This will be the easiest color challenge I have ever attempted because my world is GRAY! It is so gray that I may paint the picture with my words alone. I am writing this piece from my third residence in the last 8 months and I feel absolutely GRAY. Gray became I have 3 adult children with children making me a grand pa. A grand pa that rarely gets to see his grand children or his own children for that matter.
There are a variety of reasons for this but the basic one is forgiveness or should I say a lack .of forgiveness, The details are of no importance for the failure to forgive, resentments, baggage of the past are all deadly, all toxic and all evil. I know of no man who has not hurt or been hurt but I know of many who can not let go. I know of many who do not realize their pain is their pain and they are the only ones that can relieve their pain. It is no secret that when someone has hurt me, when some one has angered me that the root of my anger lies within. My pain, my steam, my tears belong to no one but me and I must look within to find the reason why. PRIDE can often top the list. How could “they” or how could “you” do that to me! ME! ME! Come on! ME? Who the hell am I anyway? If I die this very minute? Who cares? The sun will shine, the rain will pour so what if I am no more?
It may seem I care not for life. But I do. I may sound as if I am lonely but I’m not.
This ain’t me but it is a good pic of the gray feel today!
Color Your World – Gray
Goldenrod! I had never heard of this color before the current Jennifer Wells challenge and I would be remiss if I did not thank her for the world she has opened up for me. Little did I know that once I started blogging again the wonder of things like photography and colors which I rarely gave any thought and took for granted
would take on such meaning and add value to my life.
Picture one does not seem to be as “Goldenrod” as the other two but it does match up to the Crayola spectrum. I would like to visit Goldenrod picture one but of course it’s a fantasy but then again isn’t life? My life would be a fantasy to many as many lives are a fantasy to me and no life is boring although I do hear people say that sometimes.
Much like the colors in our daily challenge is the colors of our lives. None of them are boring it is only our thinking that makes them so. Take the color white for example. Alone, I would dare say the color White is pretty boring. A plain white piece of paper or a Handkerchief are both pretty boring but add print or paint or sketch to the paper and it becomes anything but boring. A story of love, of death, of horror or laughter and that boring piece of plain white paper is now alive with excitement! It is so much alive now how could it ever have been boring! And the Handkerchief! Punch me in the nose and turn that piece of cloth red and the following chain of events turn into excitement one may want to live without. Both boring alone but it only takes a little to turn them on!
Goldenrod! A color I had never heard of before now. A color I had seen many times, a color that is used in many ways but especially natures way and a color that opened my mind. Opened my thoughts and my thoughts I hope opened your life and no life is boring! In fact it’s your life that when added to the flowers of all our lives that makes our garden exciting!
PS=( does this sound like I’m just rambling?) I hope not

I am CRAZY about this PIC! And it has a lot of the color Dandelion
Young Harris College
Perfect Dandelion shirt
And the “flower” uh/ “weed” too
Looks like “Yeller” to me. I guess I could never be a color design engineer for Crayola but I do like the color yellow even this one with the fancy name of Dandelion. I remember a time when my Grand Ma Dyer’s yard would be one huge field of nothing but Dandelions and how it would look like it was snowing when a big wind blew across the yard. Her neighbors were not very happy because those warm weather snow flakes would mean Dandelions in their yard. To them they were weeds but to me and my cousins they were flowers of love and memories. Memories of family reunions with several generations present. Memories of adults of practically every age and children from “fresh out of the oven” to teenagers. The ‘old dawgs” would gather around the grill and cook the T-Bones while the cousins played football and the nieces played cheer leader. Football is big where I grew up and there was always the Ga Bulldog, Ga Tech Engineer debate. There were many reunions were we had no ball so we would use a tin can and I will brag a little here, I can catch a can with the best of them.
That was then and I am sad to say the reunions I have such fond memories of do not seem to be popular in America anymore. I don’t know if it’s the moral decay I have been hearing about for the last decade or the disintegration of the family but I do know I don’t see or hear about big reunions on a regular basis as I once did. Maybe it’s just our busy culture with people spread all over the globe instead of all over the State or the South etc. Maybe reunions are virtual now? Maybe family ain’t family? Have we become so engrossed in ourselves we no longer have time for the aunts or uncles that meant so much to us in our youth? No time for them when they need us the most?
I was recently in the dumps because my favorite aunt who has called me in the past has not called in a long time when it occurred to me that I have not tried to call her. That’s how “we are” isn’t it? We bitch about something and then realize we are as guilty, if not more, than anyone. Speaking only for myself I find the things that bother the most about other people are my weakest points, my own character defects. When I get “Po’d” at someone it’s typically because I’m looking in a mirror. Today instead of bitching about not being called or hearing from so and so I immediately pick up the phone and dial when I feel that cloud coming on. That works too as long as they answer. PICK up that PHONE and make that call because not only will it keep that cloud away it just might make somebody’s day
Being a country boy growing up in the South, Georgia, to be exact my first thought was a Copper Head Snake! Not only would that not do justice to the color Copper but it’s winter time making snakes hard to find and the Copper Head is one of the world’s most poisonous snakes. So I grab a penny! Not real pleased with my frugal entry into today’s color challange I grabbed the shield with one of my favorite scripture from the New Testemant. A scripture from the book of Ephesians and one that has meant a great deal to me over the years because of evil in our world. I don’t think any rational human being on this planet would argue that evil exists but few will suggest ways to defeat it. Ephesians offer a good place to start suggesting we “put on the full Armor of God, so when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.” I find it interesting that it says “you may” and I think that’s a good way of letting us know how powerful evil is and our struggle is not against flesh and blood. It is against the rulers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the spiritual realm.
What is this Full Metal? ” It is the “Belt of Truth” buckled around your waist, the Breastplate of Righteousness and your feet fitted with readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace. In addition to these add the shield of faith, helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.”
The Word of God aka The Holy Bible does it really make a difference? After all it’s only a book? The most popular, most translated, most read and sold book on this planet. Is it just a book? Consider: The Bible originated before the written word and in a language void of verbs. It was passed down word of mouth to scribble on mud, stone, clay, scrolls,Parchment, printing press, to the digital output of today. and certain individuals spent their adult lives in translation. People have been tortured and murdered for owning one and even today in certain parts of the Globe that threat still exists. Is it just a book? HOW COULD IT BE?
