I wanted to take moment…

I wanted to take moment and thank those bloggers who give advice on what and what not to do. Who share their experience and links to blogs they feel set the example. I agree with what they say “to an extent”. I agree all posts should be interesting, funny or entertaining etc. And if our blogging does not have that to offer than be a sport and don’t waste people’s precious time and make no mistake time is precious. It is the one commodity we are all short of! But I can’t blog and not mention when appropriate, as in a daily challenge or an event I have never participated in, that I’m new or this is my first time. And whether I mention being green or not I will always try to promote my fellow bloggers and suppl,y links where the time I appear to be wasting will not be wasted after all
The color your world Carnation Pink backfired on me good because I had a 250 word dissertation complete with accolades and links to several blogs I have just been introduced to. I even had funny! I had made comment of Pink not being a manly color and I had searched high and low for a pink jock strap to promote chapeblog.wordpress.com A personal training web site.
Many thanks to Judy Dykstra-Brown for taking personal interest and thanks to all of you for the advice, the comments, the likes etc. and I look forward to continuing to read and learn from each of you.
Is this a “SCHMOOZE” or what!

Color YOUR World Caribbean Green

Dead Man's Chest

image
15 Men on a Dead Man’s Chest from Robert Louis Stevenson ” Treasure Island” or “Pirates of the Caribbean”
What better way to color YOUR World: Caribbean Green than with Pirates from the Caribbean! Who hasn’t entertained the thought, saw the movie and or read books or played Pirates as a kid. I love Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean is destined to be one of if not the most loved Pirate movie of all time. Same can be said about the book “Treasure Island.”A book not only read and re-read for pleasure but has been read for grades in school many times and I think in more than one language too.
I can feel the spray of the ocean and the rock of the boat as I write. I can hear the unmistakable sound of the Captain with his peg leg, a wooden leg because of a shark bite when he was 1st mate, on deck above as I hide in the galley below for fear of being tossed over board because I’m here from the world of WordPress coloring my world Caribbean Green.
Hoping my fellow bloggers are near by as they color their World along with me in a sea of minds joined by a color, joined by a challange,by fantasy and by a unique love that our hearts and souls relish. We are not from the future nor the past but make no mistake we are right here. And WE are ONE.

No pic only words

I don’t have a picture to capture your attention and I wonder if technology hasn’t taken the beauty from a picture in words. Long befor the first shutter made a black and white fuzzy photo people painted their pictures in words and many of those pictures have and will stand the test of time. They will be read and re-read while pictures end up where pictures often do pilled up with their counterparts who for a monent, for a week etc. “shook the world ”

I am a fan of technology! I’m well known for using my Android at %90 of the places I go for photo ops. My Picasa is full of pictures from the most boring of events to the spectacular but I’m reluctant to use them in post. Is it because I’m a newbie to the Wide World of WordPress or do I want people to color their own picture from my words? What photo is there to let those bloggers I’m reading know how their words make my heart “soar like an eagle” or break my heart and I sob myself to sleep or laugh till I can’t laugh anymore. Is there a photo op of the soul?

Maybe I’m just to green and all those goofy photos will one day capture you and my words won’t mean as much. To those bloggers I admire and envy, your words I remember, your photos I look it.

POST a day Keeps BLUES away

the-future-aint-what-it-used-to-be I had started this blog years ago to sell Baseball cards but got sidetracked by Cancer. WordPress has come a long way since my sell Baseball cards endeavor and I am in awe at how advanced it is and how many blogs there are. I am also amazed at the number of talented writers and photographers and the awesome blogs they have created. Being a newbie I can’t imagine having a blog like some I’ve seen and there are so many! Right now I struggle with which ones to follow and how many to follow. I also struggle with creating 1 post a day which is embarrassing because of technology I have no excuse. This post for instance is from the palm of my hand, from my Smart Phone so I can’t say I don’t have time. I am just now learning how to post and reply to post with this Android and I hope to use it to post pictures too. But my goal of a post a day was to keep the blues away. I have not done that and I have been blue! So! Maybe you’ll see a post tommorow or at least a reply to a post BECAUSE a post a day will keep the blues away.

.

Remember When?

I can remember when  gas for the family Ford Falcon 4 door sedan, with three on the tree, was 75 cents a gallon and you could get 2 sticks of Bubble Gum with 5 Baseball cards for a Dime. A carton of Cigarettes, 20 packs, was $2.25 and a Krystal Hamburger was 15 CENTS. I was in 1st grade, which I’m proud to say I passed, so I do not have

any health insurance or housing data and though I am a Red Neck, Whitebread, Georgia Cracker I did not smoke until the 3rd grade! I remember the $2.25 because my mom bought her dad cigarettes at the PX. That’s Post Exchange for ya’ll no military types.

I was born in 1956 and few figures that year: New House $11,725.00 bought on average income of $4,454.00 a year, gas 22 Cents, US Postage Stamp 3 Cents,  Bacon 58 Cents a pound, Bread 18 Cents and a dozen eggs was 27 Cents. An obvious genius and child prodigy to remember all this on my way home from the hospital but I must admit my step mother (where’d that ugly nomenclature come from!) gave me a book for my Birthday with US Census data that I’m proud to pass on to the world of “WordPress.”

I would continue and bore you to snore but because of that 70’s show and Mary Jane that everybody smoked I  don’t remember when that much. I do remember Mary came with a lid or 4 or 5 fingers for 30 BUCKS though!

To old for that stuff now and I look forward to your replies/post on what you remember and when.

My PRIZE

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Pride and Joy.”

My most prized possession was very easy to come up with. In fact it hit me like a brick, a bolt of lighting! My faith is my most prized possession because I don’t have pets or very many material things and without my faith my life would be empty and I would have nothing. I would have never imagined faith as a possession much less my “Pride and Joy.”

Over the course of my life I have had cars, many of which I would not have lived without and I bought each of my kids a car making cars very important and in that season of  life would have classified all of them as pride and joy! Especially the 45 Ford chopped pickup with a Mustang rear end and huge back tires! Pride and Joy? Just be sitting at the red light next to me to see and hear! Yes it was loud. The red pride and joy Honda prelude with the with white  racing stripes was such a pride and joy for my son the police had a tendency to follow him wherever he went. Dumb daddy move! A hot car at age 15. I owned homes, each one “bigger and better” and at the times in my life that required a large home for a family of five I would spend hours on end each week taking care of my home for the pride an joy that lived within.

But today my pride and joy is forever. It can not be taken away or wrecked or stolen or die. It’s ironic that those things that brought me the ultimate pride and joy, things I could not have possibly lived without, are meaningless now and life is much simpler. It’s also ironic that it took the loss of magnificent things that brought pride and joy to realize true pride and true joy. I laugh now at my old Ford Pickup and man did I go to a lot of trouble to get that thing! And my last home had a yard I would commit suicide now before cleaning that field! But my faith, that saved my life, makes me cherish moments like this and give me the assurance of tomorrow is my, and what I think, is the ultimate pride and joy.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt…

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Express Yourself!.”

I would think the majority of us in the blogsphere would respond with WRITE. I know writing is my passion, that “thing” that frees me from the hum-drum of the day, engages my imagination, creativity and my BS shovel. Got to have a little BS, ya know!

I have other passions but they are somewhat selfish whereas my writing is more about you than me. Can I make you laugh? Cry? Think? What can I say to change your life, if only for a moment? I can honestly say the words I have read on the “follow” blogs have been a blessing

FaceBook,Twitter ala Social Media is popular but more off the cuff and aloof. Here we think about what we’re going to say. Here we bare our souls. Here we go ” full Komono”! Nowhere past or present are my creative juices invited to explode more than “our world”. Nowhere do I get more excited about sharing me or consuming you than this virtual Nirvana. Here we showcase our passions like photography, poetry and the cap stone blogging. Nowhere is more humbling than here because I stand in awe at the content and dream of being the writer or the poet of my fellows. I like poetry and photography too. I became enamored with photography because of technology that makes this device I’m using to write this post a camera. A camera that is always by my side and with time and effort can fool the best ala use my shovel into thinking I’m a photographer! And poetry! The poems in this realm have touched my soul. But again, how humbling, and I dream of touching souls as mine have been. YOUR work, writing, photos, poems have added value to my life beyond description. You have increased my passion,my dream and made my juices flood because I want to give back. I could go on forever but I think I’m starting to ramble. I’ll end with an old crusty poem from the 3rd grade (I think)
“I’m a poet and you didn’t know it
But look at my feet, they’ll show it
They’re Long Fellows”
Now for a picture?
That might be a little to much BS! I think I’ll stop and put my shovel up.

EVIL

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Wicked Witch.”

EVIL! What is “it”? Where does it come from? Can I do anything about it?

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil…” The DEVIL made me DO IT!

How else can one explain the plague of shootings in America? The most recent in Oregon where the shooter ask the victims if they were Christians or ISIS taking the heads of teenagers for the same reason. If this is NOT the forces of darkness,  Satan, the Devil, Lucifer or Beelzabub then I challange you to tell me what “it” is? I firmly believe Satan is real and on a rampage! Evil is bigger and badder now than ever.

The question is not why? But what? What can I do to stem the flow? Turn the tide? Me! One person. Me! Not the best person. Me! Not the strongest person. But me! A person who cares and believes that lighting a candle is better than cursing the darkness, believes that love is stronger than hate and in the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Maker of the heavens and the earth. In FAITH and HOPE. Faith that no matter how crazy, how sinister things appear, God is in fact in control. Hope from HIS promises.
